attended careers forum 2003 ytd ... went to the orthopaedics and otolaryngology talks for the first half, and i decided that doctors arent exactly the most exciting people around. i actually signed up for another doctor-talk in the second half, but after my experience in the first half, i decided instead to gatecrash the power 98 talk by justin ang. not that anybody cared anyway. manz, that JA is super manz, i think he's the star of the careers forum ... he's ultra lively, humorous and really enthralled the entire LT with his talk. it juz came so naturally for him. he said that he din haf a script for the talk, and everything we were hearing was impromptu. wow ... then for the final concurrent session i went to the clinical research talk by dr martin hibberd, and got treated to 40 minutes of ear-straining as i tried as hard as i could to listen to him. his calmness is a stark contrast to JA, and we could all see that his true passion and devotion to pneumonia research is one of a kind. too bad not everyone in the audience could connect with him on that level. oh wells ...

yawn ... i could've slept at 1 am that night, but at 1 am, i put the full version of the erhu concerto chang2 cheng2 sui2 xiang3 on the stereo ... first up was the song fei version accompanied by the philharmonic orchestra. the feeling was extremely nice, you can really feel what the composer wanted to convey at the time he wrote the song in 1982. each movement is carefully composed, and the soloist handled the emotions carefully ... the listener can really feel it manz. then after 28 minutes, i changed to the chinese orchestra version of the accompaniment. the chinese orchestra accompaniment sounded quite different from the philharmonic orchestra version, it has a different feel to it. i listened to the entire concerto once through again, and after another 28 minutes, i turned in at around 2 am. the feeling was damn shiok siahz ...
