grad night was quite fun. we arrived at marriott hotel seeing everybody in all kinds of dress types, since they didn't really make clear the dress code. some went in real formal attire, with blazers and ties and all that, while others went in informal stuff like t shirt, track pants and sports shoes. quite a lot of people spotted coloured hair, mostly red, except for yx who dyed his hair blonde ... people were busy taking photographs outside the place, and i took several with the 4Q-ians and rico-ians, before we all went into the ballroom.
the place was decorated quite nicely, with helium-filled balloons floating up to the ceiling dangling silver stars below them. junkai started the idea of getting one of those balloons and sucking the helium inside it, and once inside the ballroom, we passed the balloons around and some ppl took turns having a go at it. it was quite freakish when i heard junkai's voice turn chipmunkish. when i sucked in two gulps of helium, my voice din change, so they asked me to take in much more than that. then i decided to be less humji and took an enormous breath of helium ... then i said "eh, my voice haven't changed lehz ..." in this chipmunk gay voice. i got shocked when i heard how my voice had changed, so i cursed, "wah lau! what happened ..." in that same gay chipmunk voice ... arghz, it was damn freaky, and the whole table was laughing. luckily the effects of the helium wore out after a short while.
the dinner started after headmaster gave us a speech in which he told us about how bullshit can get u to the top sometimes but won't let u stay there for long. ben ang performed chun dao xiang jiang while ppl queued for food. i took a couple of photos of him for him, and by that time the queue had become damn long. when we reached our food, most food were depleted, and the staff were as slow as the squids on my plate in refilling those dishes. other than the satisfactory food, we were treated to song items by three different bands (made up of our own sec 4 peers) in all, some satisfactory, some not-so-satisfactory. table games were okay larhz, i guess, only that some were damn enthu about it, some not that enthu. the lucky draw was fun in a way, coz they raised our hopes by telling us that the prizes-to-people ratio is about 1:5, which is pretty good for any draw ... boji won himself an iron and sam won himself a portable radio. i think the 5th prize was this panasonic tv set or something ... coolz ...
anywayz after the whole thing, we took more photos, only to find that we missed the last bus taking us to boji's house. so we decided to take cabs there, and catch the chelsea vs man utd match. as i expected, chelsea beat man utd, but it wasn't really an ownage. i felt chelsea played better in the first half, but man utd came back strongly in the second ... all in all it was a good game, only that man utd lost.
by the way wj's house is damn big and nice, with his own private swimming pool. his own room is in an attic which size is easily comparable to that of my living room. we didn't really utilise his nice, clear blue swimming pool, unless of course u consider hl's dunking of wj's lawn chair in the pool as a constructive and intelligent move on hl's part.
after the match boji let us watch this taped simpsons episode, and an episode of family guy, and then some of us tried to catch some sleep while others played cards until dawn broke. i tried to sleep, but couldn't, so in the end i went downstairs to watch an interesting discovery documentary about fighter planes with szetoh, jiawen and company. later bj came down and showed me a few beautiful taped goals. in the same tape we watched a central programme called "blue planet" or something, a documentary about weird sea creatures in the deepest parts of the ocean. i dozed off halfway through, and half an hour later ocj woke us up to go for breakfast.
so the 20 or so of us went to this kopitiam near bj's house and had acceptable breakfast, then chester, jiawen and i shared a cab home ... after a shower i flopped onto my bed and slept for five hours, through lunch, all the way to 4.30 pm, and then practised erhu until dinner time.
